SAN ANGELO – For the first time in 22 games, the Angelo State men's basketball team lost on their home court inside the Junell Center – Stephens Arena on Thursday evening, falling to Lubbock Christian 75-50.
The Rams scored six of the game's first eight points for an early lead; the visiting Chaps would then rattle off a 16-0 run that gave them a lead they wouldn't concede.
The Rams struggled offensively from the field, only shooting 34.8 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from three.
Shemar Smith and
Trey Farrer each had 12 points for the Rams; Smith led the game with eight rebounds.
Keyshawn Embery-Simpson and
Carvell Teasett each had eight points, with Embery-Simpson leading all players with three blocked shots.
Willie Guy and
Kevon Godwin each chipped in five points. Godwin is now only 13 points away from the 1,000-point mark.
The Rams are now 15-7 on the season and 10-6 in conference play; they are back in action on Saturday when they host No. 1 West Texas A&M.
