SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Angelo State track & field teams wrapped up the first day of the Trinity Invitational on Friday to open the outdoor season.
Cole Paxton won the men's hammer throw, tossing a mark of 54.98m (180'-5"), outthrowing second place by over two feet.
Luis Alvarado finished eighth in the event with a mark of 43.96m (144'-3").
In the high jump,
Emanual Evans grabbed fifth overall with a jump of 1.90m (6'-2.75") while Josh Minton finished eighth at the same height.
For the Rambelles,
Kylyie Paden claimed first in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.67m (5'-5.75") to earn a provisional. Behind her was
Ashtyn Warren in fifth at 1.52m (4'-11.75").
Kylie Frush finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.44m (17'-10.25) while
Allison Vaughn (5.20m | 17'-0.75") finished seventh, and
Maggie Morales (5.07m | 16'-7.5") took ninth.
The meet continues tomorrow beginning with the javelin at 10 a.m., while the running events begin at 1 p.m.
