FORT SMITH, Ark. – The Angelo State baseball team dropped the series opener to UAFS as the Rams fell by a final score of 5-2 on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, the Rams fell to 10-8 overall with a 9-8 conference record.

The Lions struck first, utilizing a lead-off single and a bit of small ball for the game's opening score. The Rams responded with a run of their own in the second inning as Ryder McDaniel grounded out to score Tayten Tredaway.

The fifth inning proved to be the turning point for both sides as Justin Harris singled through the right side to score Blake Wilhoite and take the lead. However, UAFS roared back in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of errors to plate three more runs.

The Lions concluded the afternoon by adding another run from a bases loaded walk in the seventh to bring the game to its final score.
