SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team returned to winning ways with a pair of wins in their doubleheader today against Western New Mexico, winning game one 2-1 before claiming game two 7-4. The doubleheader also saw Rambelles sophomore
Tatiana Trotter set the new single-season program record for triples in a season with seven.
Keilei Garcia started the scoring in game one with a solo home run in the second inning, her seventh home run of the season.
Garcia would drive in Trotter with a single through the left side in the fourth inning to double the Rambelles' lead.
The Mustangs would homer in the fifth inning to cut the lead to one but were unable to push across another run.
Cheyenne Floyd improved to 15-4 on the season, going the distance and allowing two hits and one run while striking out eight Mustangs.

Laylonna Applin, who singled through the left side to score Gunther.
Smith would double to lead off the third inning before scoring on a Trotter home run, her fourth of the season, to make it 3-0.
Zoey De Baca would double to center field with two outs to plate another run.
The Mustangs would score two runs in the next inning on a home run before the Rambelles responded with two runs of their own.
With two outs in the fourth inning, Applin would homer to score a run. Trotter, the next batter, would hit the seventh triple of her sophomore season before scoring on a Garcia single. Later in the inning,
Layni Tanner would draw a bases-loaded walk to plate the Rambelles' seventh run.
Trotter's triple broke Leina Braxton's 17-year-old record, when Braxton tripled six times in the 2007 season.
The Mustangs would hit another two-run home run to make it 7-4.
Matie Wolkow picked up her second win of the season, throwing four innings and allowing six hits and two runs (one earned).
Torrey Hogan pitched the final three innings in relief, striking out four and allowing four hits and two runs as she picked up her second save of the season.
The Rambelles improve to 26-10 on the season and 17-9 in LSC play; they go for the sweep of the Mustangs tomorrow at 1 p.m.
