Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

The No. 19 Rambelles Fall to No. 3 Midwestern State 4-3

Wichita Falls, Texas -  The No.19 Angelo State women's tennis falls to No.3 Midwestern State 4-3 in a tightly contested Lone Star Conference Matchup. 
 
With the loss, the Rambelles fall to 13-2 overall and 3-1 in conference action. The Mustangs improve to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in conference.
 
The Pairing of Mieke Van Deventer and Alexandra Vishnevskaya would record their first loss of the year, falling 6-4 to Sydney Williams and Sofia Giraldo.
 
Hannah Yip and Shreya Chakraborty would clinch the doubles point 6-4 for the Mustangs as they would get the best of Ayda Guler and Letizia Corsini, handing them their first loss of the season, moving the pairing to a 13-1 overall record.
 
The No. 28th-ranked pairing of Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz would fall 5-6 (1-7) to the No.50 pairing of Anda Ghinga and Jessica Binzari.
 
Sydney Williams of the Mustangs would get the scoring started in the singles portion, defeating Ivet Stancehva  6-0, 6-2 in straight sets to give the Mustangs a two-point advantage.
 
Letizia Corsini, the No.14th ranked player in the nation, would continue her run of form as she would move to 13-0 with the 6-4, 6-1 victory over Jessia Binzari, giving the Rambelles their first point of the contest.
 
The No.36th ranked player Hannah Yip would get the best of Jessica Li on line three, winning 6-2,6-3 in straight sets to move the Mustangs advantage to 3-1.
 
Christine Jevicky would come back from behind on line four, losing the first set 0-6 and then winning the following two sets 7-5, 6-3 over Sofia Giraldo to give another point, making it 2-3.
 
Skylar Minns would clinch the match for the Mustangs as she would overcome a three-set battle against Ayda Guler, winning the first set 6-4 and then dropping the second set 6-2 and clinching the match on the third set 6-2.
 
Eva Schwartz would come back from dropping the first set 6-3 and then winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to make the final score 4-3 in favor of the Mustangs.
 
The No.19 Rambelles return to action tomorrow as they face No.24 Lubbock Christian, with first serve scheduled for noon.
