Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

No. 19 Rambelles Get Back in Win Column With 4-3 Victory Over No. 24 Lubbock Christian

Lubbock, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team was able to get things back on track as they were able to get the best of the No. 24 Lubbock Christian, 4-3, this afternoon at the Penny Gullo Tennis Center.
 
The Rambelles improve to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in Lone Star Conference action. While, Lubbock Christian falls to 16-4 overall and 1-3 in conference action.
 
The No.28 ranked pairing of Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz were able to get things going for the Rambelles as they won the first doubles match 6-3 over 40th-ranked Michelle Trochez and Andrea De Bernardo.
 
The doubles pairing of Ayda Guler and Letizia Corsini would fall to the pairing of Anastasiia Opolska and Oshini Hearth 6-4 at No.2 doubles to move to 13-2 in doubles action.
 
Mieke Van Deventer and Alexandra Vishnevskaya would get the best of Axelle Jacquemin and Anastasiia Khrustaleva 7-5 at No.3 doubles, clinching the doubles point for the Rambelles.
 
Letizia Corsini would continue her undefeated streak in singles play as she would get the best of Michelle Trochez 6-2, 6-3 to move to 14-0 in singles play and give the Rambelles an advantage making it 2-0.
 
Mariia Koroleva would best Mieke Van Deventer at line six, 6-3, 6-4, to give the Lady Chaps its first point of the contest.
 
Jessica Li would get back on track as she would win 6-4, 6-3 on Line three over Axelle Jacquemin.
 
Avery Durham would get the start at line five, but she would fall 6-4, 6-3, to Anastasia Opolska, making it 3-2 in favor of the Rambelles.
 
Christine Jevicky would clinch the match for the Rambelles as she would win on line four 6-3, 6-2 to move to 12-1 in singles play.
 
Eva Schwartz would fall short in a three-set stunner to 30th-ranked Andrea De Bernardo, dropping the first set 6-3 and then coming back in dominant fashion, winning the second set 6-0 and then she would fall just short in the third set, falling 6-3 to make the final score 4-3.
 
The No. 19 Rambelles return to action as they Host St. Mary's on Saturday, April. 6th
