Rambelles Set for First Round Contest Against UT Permian Basin

San Angelo, Texas - After getting one final regular season win and some much-needed rest, the Angelo State women's basketball team is set for the Lone Star Conference tournament and a first-round matchup with Cameron on Thursday, Mar. 2nd at 12:00 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.

TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are available as single-session passes, and prices are $18 for adults and $12 for students. Each single-session ticket includes two tournament games and is redeemable for the specified session only. Tickets can be purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office or online through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) now through the end of the tournament. Tickets purchased on Ticketmaster are subject to additional fees and taxes. No additional fees will be applied to tickets purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office.

  • The Rambelles would play the winner of this matchup on Saturday, March 9th, with tip-off scheduled for 8:30 if they can best UT Permian Basin.
UT Tyler lost the only regular season Matchup against WT 73-54 in Canyon.

(1)Texas Woman's vs. (8) UAFS 
  • Texas Woman's won the LSC title outright for the second straight season, were east division champions
  • Texas Woman beat UAFS twice in both of the regular season matchups, the first matchup on Ja. 4th TWU beat UAFS 77-59 and on Feb. 3rd TWU bested UAFS 80-58.
(4) Texas A&M International vs  (5)Lubbock Christian
  • LCU was crowned West Division Champions
  • In the lone matchup of the year Texas A&M International got the best of Lubbock Christian 65-60.
 
 
NEED TO KNOW
  • The Rambelles went 1-1 last week with a 90-54 Loss to UTPB and then three days later got back on track with a 78-65 victory over UTPB at home.
  • Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant leads the Rambelles in scoring, averaging 15.9 points a game, and currently ranks 5th in the LSC.
  • Swayer Lloyd ranks seventh in the LSC, averaging 14.7 points per game.
  • The Rambelles have made a staple in their play, holding the top ranking in the conference, averaging 41.2 rebounds a game and ranking 33rd in the entire Divison ll
  • McGhee-Pleasant (4th), Madeline Stephens (9th), and Sawyer Lloyd (13th) each rank in the top 15 in rebounding individually in the LSC, averaging 8.8, 7.7, and 6.8.
  • Stephens ranks 8th in the LSC in field goal percentage, and shooting 48.8 from the field.
  • Lloyd ranks second in the LSC, averaging 5.1 assists a game, while a 2.15 assist/turnover ratio is the best mark in the conference.
  • Lloyd is ranked 11th in the LSC, accumulating 157 to this point in the season, she is also ranked 36th in DII in assists/turnover ratio with a 2.15.
  • Keniah Williams leads the LSC in blocks, averaging 1.8 per season, and ranks 27th in DII in blocks per game. 
  • The Rambelles score 69.8 points per game (4th), shooting 40.9 percent from the field (7th), 28.6 percent from behind the arc (10th), and shooting 70 percent from the free throw line (11th)
  • The Rambelles rank 10th in defense, allowing 66 points per game.
 
Angelo State vs UTPB 
  • The Falcons are coming off a 1-1 weekend where they beat Angelo State on Wednesday 90-54 and then lost to Angelo State 78-65 on Saturday, and they will once again face each other in the first round of the LSC tournament.
  • Andreea Manchea leads the way for the Falcons averaging 12.7 points per game, 2.9 rebounds, and two assists a game. 
  • Another name to look out for is Alexus Quadman, who averages 10.7 points per game and 10.5 rebounds a contest. She is also coming off being named the Defensive Player of the Week after posting her 11th double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, plus two blocked shots on Wednesday. In the season finale, she grabbed three blocks, six rebounds, and scored 10 points.
  • UTPB has the third-best offense in the conference, averaging 70.2 points per game, and allows 60.1 points per game, which ranks them 4th best in the conference.
