Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

Rambelles Fall to Cameron 4-1 in the LSC Semifinals

Arlington, Texas - The No. 16 Rambelles fall to Cameron 4-1 In the Lone Star Conference Semifinals.
 
With the loss, the Rambelles move to 20-3 overall, and Cameron moves to 14-7 overall and advances to the final of the LSC Tournament as they take on DBU.
 
Ayda Guler and Letizia Corsini would get things started in the semifinals for the Rambelles as they would win the first match of the doubles portion 6-4 over Kateryna Rudenko and Jenna Goessel. With the win, the paring moves to 20-2 overall at No.2 doubles.
 
 50th-ranked Vasilisa Polunova and Anastasia Uspenskaia would get the best of the 12th-ranked Eva Schwartz and Avery Durham 6-3 to make the point come down to No.3 doubles.
 
The doubles point would come down to No. 3 doubles Mieke Van Deventer and Alexandra Vishnevskaya would have an early 3-1 lead in the set Cameron would score six of the next seven points to take the doubles point as Lea Manga would defeat Magda Wawarowska 6-4.
 
Anastasia Uspenskaia would get the best of Christine Jevicky, winning in straight sets 6-0 and 6-1 to end Jevicky's 14-match win streak.
 
The Lone Star Conference Player of the Year would continue her dominance for the Rambelles as she defeated the No.18th ranked player Vasilisa Plunova 6-1, 6-2 to make 2-1 in favor of the Aggies and to move her undefeated streak to 21 matches in a row the longest win streak in school history.
 
Kateryna Rudenko would get the best of the freshman Jessica Li, 6-3, 6-2, to make it 3-1 in favor of Cameron.
 
Jenna Gossel, the No. 68th-ranked player, would get the best of the 60th-ranked Eva Schwartz 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the victory for the Aggies and move them to the Lone Star Conference Championship against DBU.
 
When Jenna Gossel clinched the match on line two, Ayda Guler and Manga Lea would be in the middle of a tiebreaker after Ayda lost the first set 6-4, and in the second, it was 6-6 (5-6) when the match was abandoned.
 
Ivet Stancheva would drop the first set 6-4 and then be in the middle of the second set 7-6 when the match had to be abandoned due to Cameron clinching the 4-1 victory.
 
The No.16 Rambelles await the NCCA Selection Show on Monday, May 6th at 8:30 p.m. to see who they will take on in the regional tournament.
