SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team honored their four seniors –
Katie Burris,
Ashton Dirner,
Torrey Hogan, and
Keilei Garcia - before this afternoon's game, and the Rambelles completed the sweep of Cameron this afternoon 1-0 at Mayer Field courtesy of
Layni Tanner's seventh-inning single up the middle.
The game only has eight hits combined before the bottom of the seventh, when
Zoey De Baca led the inning off with a double to right center. Her pinch runner,
Erin Plunkett, advanced to third on a wild pitch.
With one out in the inning, Tanner stepped up to the plate, and on the first pitch she saw, singled up the middle to plate Plunkett as the Rambelles clinched the sweep on the same day they honored their four seniors.
Hogan was sublime in the circle, throwing her first complete-game shutout of the season. This marked her longest outing since she threw five innings against Oklahoma Christian on March 2
nd.
The senior from Lubbock allowed five hits and one walk while striking out four Aggies as she picked up her fourth win of the season.
Senior
Ashton Dirner recorded two of the five Rambelle hits on the day, as well as swiping a pair of bases.
The Rambelles improve to 32-11 on the season and 23-10 in conference play. They close out their home schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday when they host Texas A&M International.
