Women's Tennis Will Burrow, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

No.18 Rambelles Advance to the Division II National Championship After Defeating Cameron 4-2

Lawton, OK - The  Angelo State women's tennis team defeated Cameron 4-2 in the South-Central Regional. 
 
Angelo State scored an early point, winning two doubles matches at the No. 1 and 2 spots. Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz won 6-3, followed by a 6-4 win from Ayda Guler and Letizia Corsini.
 
In singles, the Belles dropped a match at line five where Lea Manga got the better of the Ivet Stancheva 6-0, 6-2 to tie the match 1-1.
 
Anastasia Uspenskaia got the best of the Ayda Guler 6-2, 6-3 on line four to give the Aggies an early 2-1 lead. 
 
Letizia Corsini would continue her domination 6-1, 6-4 to move to 22-0 and tied the match 2-2 
 
Alexandra Vishnevskaya would defeat Maga Wawrowska 6-4, 6-4 to give the Rambelles a 3-2 lead. 
 
The freshman Jessica Li would clinch the match for the Rambelles as she would win on a tiebreaker in set two winning 6-4, 7-6(7-1)
 
With the victory, the Rambelles Advance to the first round of the National Championship beginning on May 20th.
