No. 18 Rambelles Head to Cameron for the First Round of the South Central Regional

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team makes their fourth consecutive NCAA postseason appearance this weekend when they travel up to Lawton, Oklahoma, to take on the nation's 16th-ranked team, Cameron, in the first round of the NCAA DII South Central Regional on Friday, May 10th at 2 p.m.
 
The Rambelles are 20-3 on the season and are coming off a loss in the semifinals to Cameron, the eventual Lone Star Conference Championship winner. 
 
The Aggies and the Belles have met nine times previously, with the Belles victorious in six of the nine matches. In their matchup earlier this season in San Angelo, the Rambelles won a tightly contested matchup 4-3. The Aggies would get their revenge by taking out the Rambelles 4-1 in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
 
In their previous matchup, Letizia Corsini was the only one able to get a point for the Rambelles, extending her undefeated streak to 21-0 with the defeat over the 18th-ranked Vasilisa Plunova 6-1, 6-2.
 
This spring, the Aggies went 15-7 during the and were champions of the LSC Tournament, defeating DBU 4-2.
 
Going into the South Central Regional, Letizia Corsini is ranked fifth in singles play after posting a 21-0 season to this point in the season, Eva Schwartz is ranked 65th going into the regional after posting a 12-9 singles record to this point in the season. 
 
The No.1 pairing of Eva Schwartz and Avery Durham are ranked 12th in doubles play after posting a 17-5 record. From Cameron Vasilisa Plunova is ranked 19th in the ITA Singles rankings, while her teammate Jenna Goessel is ranked 40th in singles play. The pairing of Vasilisa Plounova and Anastasia Uspenskaia is ranked 29th in doubles heading into the regional.
 
This is the Belles' fifth appearance at the NCAA South Central Regional.  They are 1-4 all-time in the regional, losing St. Mary's 1-4. In 2021, they beat Texas A&M - Kingsville 4-0 in the first round of the South Central Regional tournament before falling to St. Mary's 4-2 in the second round.
