The Rambelles Take Down the Falcons on Senior Day

San Angelo, Texas - The Angelo State women's soccer team got back on track as they defeated UTPB 2-0 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon inside the LeGrand Soccer Complex.

With the victory, the Rambelles improved to 8-3-4 overall and 7-2-2 in conference action.

Within the first seven minutes of action, the Rambelles would record five shots with two of them being on target.

In the first half, the Falcons' backline would bend but not break as they faced 17 shots without conceding one, and they went into halftime with the score tied 0-0.

Early in the second half, Sanai Stewart would get free, crossing the ball into the middle of the box where an open Graycen Rasmussen headed above the goalkeeper to give the Belles a 1-0 advantage early in the second half.

In the 60th minute, Lexi Gonzales would send a shot from outside the box over the diving keeper to give the Rambelles the 2-0 lead.

The Rambelles defense continued to lock down the offense of the Falcons as they recorded their ninth shutout this season.

The Belles would record 22 shots with 11 being on target compared to the seven shots of the Falcons, with three being on target.

Melyna Martinez would record her ninth shutout of the season.

The Belles will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on the newcomer of  Lone Star Conference, UT Dallas with kickoff scheduled for 5:30.

From Travis McCorkle: Q: We are back to our Custom 2-0 wins this year. What has improved in the offense from now compared to the match against Eastern? A: We had 22 shots, and the goalkeeper had to make 8 saves out of those 22 shots. With us going later and later in the season  goals are gonna be harder to get. In Training, we need to develop our finishing. That game should have been done and dusted at halftime. We have three breakaways, and we just couldn't finish. We got another shutout, so that is always good. Q: With UTD coming into the conference, what are you looking for as they come into town? A: They multiple players that are really good they are gonna be a tough game. Whoever wins that game is going to be the team that will be a host for at least one game in the tournament.
