SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team completed a successful opening weekend on its home court by defeating Adams State 68-61 on Saturday afternoon inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

Ja'Queze Kirby at the three-point line, where he turned and fired a moonshot, which banked in and beat the buzzer.
Kirby's made three tied the game at 26-all going into halftime. It was also only one of three made threes for the Rams, with
Quadir Pettaway draining the other two.
The Rams held the Grizzlies to 39.6 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. The Grizzlies struggled at the free-throw line, only making 13 of their 24 shots from the charity stripe.
Jesaiah McWright led the Rams with 18 points, making six field goals and six free throws. McWright also grabbed five rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals.
Jaqai Murray scored 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field, and Pettaway ended the game with 14 points.
Ja'Queze Kirby stuffed the stat sheet, falling one point shy of a double-double. The senior had nine points while leading the rebounding effort with 13 boards. He also blocked a pair of shots and grabbed three steals.
Kailon Nicholls and
Zyon Little each grabbed four steals as the Rams forced the Grizzlies into 21 turnovers.
The Rams are 5-0 on the season and 2-0 on their home court. The Rams are in action on Monday with an exhibition against Tarleton State in Stephenville.
