Wichita Falls, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team dropped their final road game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon to Midwestern State as the Mustangs claimed a 74-57 win over the Rams inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Rams could not overcome a slow start. They only made seven field goals in the first half, while the Mustangs shot 59.3 percent from the field. After intermission, the Rams shot 53.1 percent from the field, outscoring the Mustangs 37-30 in the second half.
The Rams won the rebounding battle against the Mustangs, 38-29.
DJ Freeman recorded his first double-double this season with 13 points and 15 rebounds. He shot 6-for-9 from the field, and seven of his 15 rebounds came on the offensive glass.
Denim Dawson scored 12 points in 21 minutes off the bench. He made four of his seven attempts from the field and went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. Dawson also blocked a shot.
Shemar Smith joined his teammates in double-figures. He, like Dawson, shot 4-for-7 from the field and grabbed four rebounds.
Kaden Evans and
Sterling Gaston-Chapman each scored eight points; Evans grabbed a pair of steals, while Gaston-Chapman had three assists.
Kendrick Delahoussaye had two points, three assists, and two steals, and
Blessing Adesipe grabbed five rebounds.
The Rams are 14-11 on the season and 10-9 in LSC play. They are back home next Thursday to kick off their final regular season homestand when they host league-leading No. 6 DBU.
