No. 18 Rambelles Return Home to Face No. 23 DBU, UT Tyler

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team return to Lone Star Conference action as they take on No. 23 DBU on Friday, Mar. 28th, and UT Tyler on Saturday, Mar. 29th.

Head coach Jason Potthoff has started his third spring season strong, setting a new program record starting the season 12-1. Last season, the Belles made it to round 16 for the first time in program history. Belles tennis is currently ranked 12th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.
 
The No.18 Rambelles are coming into the contest against No. 23 DBU 12-1 falling to Flagler 5-2 in their last contest.  
 
No.21 DBU is heading into this match-up with a perfect 13-0 record. The Lady Patriots defeated Texas Wesleyan 7-0, Weatherford College, 4-0, and Central Oklahoma 4-1.
 
This will be the seventh matchup between the two teams with Angelo State winning the previous six matchups.
 
The Lady Patriots have five players that are undefeated in singles play. Isabella Arana Rios is 10-0, Emily Buchanan leads the team with a 12-0 record, Andra Delgado is 8-0, Jenna Payne is 3-0 and Isabella Quintero is 5-0. The Lady Patriots are 54-11 overall in singles play. 
 
In doubles play for the Lady Patriots the pairing of Isabella Quintero and Andrea Delgado are 12-1 leading the way for the Lady Patriots.  Jenna Payne and Emily Buchanan are 11-1 in doubles play. The Lady Patriots are 30-7 overall in doubles play. 
 
Paula Castellanos leads the way for UT Tyler, with a perfect 10-0 record in singles play heading into this week's contest.
 
The pairing of Paula Castellanos and Natalia Gorzny is 8-2 leading the way for the Patriots.
 
The Rambelles are 50-22 in singles play, with freshman Margaux Rene leading the way starting her collegiate career 10-3 through the first 13 contests of the year, and is ranked 44th in the nation in singles play. Rene defeated Amelie Gindl 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 for her first win against a ranked opponent against Southern Arkansas. Gindl was sixth in the nation at the time of the match. Rene recorded her second win against a ranked opponent when she defeated the 75th-ranked singles player Jesica Bohnert 6-0, 6-2. Avery Durham is continuing her dominant form as she is 8-0 coming into the biggest matchup of the year. Ivet Stancheva is 10-2 helping clinch many match victories this season. 
 
In doubles play, the Belles are 22-11 overall, led by the No. 12th ranked doubles pairing, Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz who are currently 7-2 overall. Benedetta Raggiotti and Margaux Rene are 9-4 overall in doubles play. 
 
Ivet Stancheva was named the Player of the Week for her performances against Central Oklahoma and Missouri Western.
