Rambelles Face No. 21 Lubbock Christian, UTPB in Final Home Contests of the Year

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team returns home as they take on Lubbock Christian on April 12th and UT Permian Basin on April 13th.

Head Coach Jason Potthoff has started his third spring season strong, setting a new program record by starting the season 12-0. The Belles currently sit at 12-5 heading into this weekend's matchups. Last season, the Belles made it to the round of the 16 for the first time in program history.
 
The Rambelles are coming into the contest against No. 21 Lubbock Christian and UTPB having dropped their last two matchups. The Belles fell to No. 2 Midwestern State 5-2 and Cameron 4-3. 
 
The Lady Chaps are coming into the matchup with Angelo State defeating St. Marys 5-2 on April 3rd and UTPB 4-3 on April. 6th. The Lady Chaps face off against Texas A&M - Kingsville before they take on Angelo State on April 12th. 
 
Angelo State leads the all-time series over Lubbock Christian 2-0, winning the last matchup 4-3 on Mar. 30th, 2024.
 
AnaMaria Zoric leads the way for the Lady Chaps as she is 12-1 in singles action. 
 
Anastasiia Opolska is ranked 43 in the nation in singles play with a 9-5 overall record.
 
Andrea De Bernardo is ranked 73rd in the nation with a 9-4 overall singles record. 
 
The Pairing of Andrea de Bernardo and Axelle Jacquemin are ranked 13th in the nation with a 7-6 doubles record.
 
UTPB comes into the matchup with ASU dropping their last two contest 5-2 over St. Mary's and 4-3 over No.19 Lubbock Christian. They will face off against Texas A&M-Kingsville on April. 12th before they travel to San Angelo to take on the Rambelles on April. 13th
 
The Rambelles are 8-0 over the Falcons winning the last contest 7-0 on April. 14th, 2024. 
 
The Rambelles are 58-38 in singles play, with freshman Margaux Rene leading the way starting her collegiate career 12-5 through the first 17 contests of the year, and is ranked 56th in the nation in singles play. Rene defeated Amelie Gindl 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 for her first win against a ranked opponent against Southern Arkansas. Gindl was sixth in the nation at the time of the match and is currently 4th. Rene recorded her second win against a ranked opponent when she defeated the 75th-ranked singles player Jessica Bohnert 6-0, 6-2.
 
Eva Schwartz is ranked 75th in the nation with an 8-8 overall record after defeating the 5th-ranked player in the nation Jessica Binzari 0-6, 6-2, 6-1 last week against No. 3 Midwestern State.
 
Ivet Stancheva continues her dominant form as she is 12-4 coming into the big matchup against No. 21 Lubbock Christian as she has helped clinch many match victories for the Rambelles.
 
In doubles play, the Belles are 29-16 overall, led by the No. 12th ranked doubles pairing Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz who are currently 9-4. The freshman pairing of Benedetta Raggiotti and Margaux Rene are 12-5 overall in doubles play. Stancheva was named the Player of the Week for performances against Central Oklahoma and Missouri Western.
