SAN ANGELO, Texas – The top ranked Angelo State baseball team held off Eastern New Mexico to win 6-4 on Senior Day to secure the series sweep on a wet Saturday afternoon at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium
With the victory, the Rams improve to a 39-7 (37-7) record and remain atop the Lone Star Conference standings while dropping the Greyhounds to 26-20 (24-20), which pushes them to eighth place.
Prior to the game, the Rams honored 17 seniors in a ceremony to honor their time with the program including some members who have gone to the DII College World Series every year they wore the Blue and Gold.
In the game's opening inning, the Rams loaded the bases which led to three runs scored off four walks and two hits.
The Greyhounds responded with a solo home run the lead off the top of the second inning off Rams' starter
Ryan Free. The senior left-hander turned in a quality start tossing six complete innings allowing the aforementioned earned run off nine hits and a walk while striking out six on the way to clinching his fourth win of the season.
The Rams responded with a run of their own in the ensuing inning as
Justin Harris drew a lead off walk and reached third on a
Ethan Flodstrom single before a groundout scored him.
The game went into a lightning delay in the bottom of the third inning which lasted a little over an hour. Coming back from the delay, Hutchinson led off the frame being hit by a pitch before
Tayten Tredaway doubled down the right field line to extend the lead to four runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, ASU was able to load the bases once again but only was able to score one run on a groundball double play.
Eastern New Mexico matched the run in the top of the seventh, hitting a second solo homer off reliver
Josh Reed. Reed dealt until the top of the ninth when he found himself in some trouble after allowing back-to-back baserunners aboard to force a call to the bullpen.
Luke Olson came on in relief and allowed two runs off sacrifice fly before forcing a groundball to end the game and earn his fifth save of the season.
The Rams will conclude the 2025 regular season on the road in Lawton, Oklahoma where they will face Cameron in a four-game series beginning on Friday, Apr. 25.
