Lubbock, Texas – The Angelo State softball team split their doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at Manor Park, winning game one 3-2 before dropping game two 5-1.
The Rambelles kicked off the scoring in game one, with
Ashton McMillan singling to lead off the second inning before working around the bases, eventually scoring on a steal of home.
The Lady Chaps scored twice in the sixth inning to take the lead.
McMillan walked, and
Averie Gunther singled to put two runners on. With two runners in scoring position,
Zoey De Baca laid down a bunt, scoring one run before the second runner scored on a fielding error by the Lady Chaps.
Cheyenne Floyd picked up her 17
th win of the season, throwing a complete game and allowing three hits, three walks, and two runs while striking out eight.
The Rambelles struck first in game two, with back-to-back-to-back singles by
Tatiana Trotter, McMillan, and Gunther in the fifth inning loading the bases for
Lauren De La Cruz, who grounded into a fielder's choice to score the first run.
The Lady Chaps scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and three times in the next inning to take game two, 5-1.
The Rambelles out-hit the Lady Chaps 8-6 in game two but ended up leaving ten runners on base.
Amelia Hatthorn started the game in the circle, throwing 5.1 innings and allowing four hits and five runs.
The Rambelles are 31-9 on the season and 22-8 in LSC play. They are back home on Sunday to host Lubbock Christian at 2 p.m.
