Rambelles Fall to No.5 DBU to Open LSC Play

DALLAS, Texas- After a trip to Dallas, the Angelo State women's soccer team fell to No. 5 DBU 2-0 Wednesday evening.

The Rambelles fall to 1-2-2 on the season and are now 0-1-0 in Lone Star Conference action.

In a rematch of the 2024 LSC Championship match, DBU scored first in the 18th minute when Skylar Belanger would hit a rocket from outside the box that hit the right post and rattled in to give the Lady Patriots the 1-0 lead early in the contest.

About four minutes later, in the 22nd minute, Anne Louthan would get a free kick that she passed to Chandler Wheat. Wheat would send it into the box, where it connected with Angelina Olmos' head to give the Lady Patriots a 2-0 lead early in the first half.

The Rambelles offense would struggle in the first half, only recording two shots, both by midfielders Abby James and Emilee Jones, which would end up being off target.

In the second half, DBU would be in control of possession for the majority of the half. Graycen Rasmussen would record the only shot of the half for the Rambelles, and it ended by being saved by a diving Leslie Miller.

The Belles would be outshot 21-3 with one shot on goal compared to the six on goal for the Lady Patriots.

Melyna Martinez recorded four saves in the contest. DBU's keeper Leslie Miller saved the one shot that she faced.

The Belles recorded their seventh yellow card of the season and their first red card of the season when Christina Clark got sent off in the 86th minute.

The Rambelles will be back in action when they face off with Lubbock Christian, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. at the LeGrand Soccer Complex.
