Rambelles Fall to No. 4 Colorado School of Mines to Begin 2025 Season

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State Women's soccer team dropped its first contest of 2025, to No. 4 Colorado School of Mines, Thursday evening inside the LeGrand Soccer Complex.

The Rambelles fall to 0-1 after today's contest. The first time they have started 0-1 in a season since the 2011 campaign.

In the first half, the Rambelles defense showed its prowess as they were able to keep the defending Rocky Mountain Athletic Champions at bay, only allowing two shots in the first half. After the 11th-minute marker in the first half, the Orediggers were not able to record a shot for the rest of the half.

In the Second half, both teams came out firing, with each team recording three shots within the first 10 minutes of action. In the 61st minute, the Orediggers were able to get the ball over the backline of the Rambelles, where the All-American Bella Campos positioned herself to hit the back of the net to give Colorado School of Mines the one goal that they needed to secure the victory for them.

The Belles outshot the Orediggers 13-7, with five being on goal compared to the three of Colorado School of Mines.

Allie Lundgren opened her senior campaign with a shutout.

The Belles next matchup is Saturday, Sept. 6th, facing off against Oklahoma Baptist, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.

From Head Coach Travis McCorkle: Q.: I know it's not the way you wanted the game to end against the No. 4-ranked team in the county. How do you think you played?  A: "Great start, I thought we played really well in the first half. There were a couple of build-up plays that we had, and if we can continue to do those more often in matches, we will definitely cause problems for teams. I think that we had some chances; we just unfortunately did not make that one big play that they did that ended up being the deciding factor." Q: Having a brand new midfield this season and the loan returner being Abby James, how do you think they played in the first official game together? A: Good, Good Lexi is improving every day, Ej is improving every day. I think they are doing well, they stayed connected today than in other parts of our training leading up to today".
