No. 18 Rambelles Draw with Oklahoma Baptist

San Angelo, Texas – The No. 18 Angelo State women soccer team earned a point against Oklahoma Baptist in a physical matchup that resulted in a 1-1 draw the LeGrand Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Rambelles move to 0-1-1 overall with the 1-1 tie. Oklahoma Baptist moves to 0-1-1 at the conclusion of the contest.
 
The Rambelles offense came out of gates firing with Lexi Gonzales getting the first shot of the contest that was sent just high over the goal.
 
Emily Thames came down the right flank where she outran the opposing backline and her shot rebounded off the goalie rolling onto the goal line where a defender kicked it out of bounds to keep the game tied 0-0.
 
The Belles and Lady Buffs went into halftime tied 0-0.
 
In the 54th minute the Belles scored the first goal of the year as Wrilyn Shippey would send a rocket from 45 yards out to give the Rambelles a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute.
 
Oklahoma Baptist tied the game 1-1 in the 68th minute.
 
The Belles would have control of the ball for the the majority of the remaining contest but would not be able to find the back of the net.
 
ASU led the game with 12 shots with four being on target compared to the 11 shots by OBU and six being on target.
 
ASU would have five saves compared to three of the Lady Buffs.
 
The Belles will return to action on Thursday as they take on Colorado State Pueblo with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
