Rams Drop Road Contest to Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Angelo State men's basketball team dropped its second consecutive game in the Sooner State on Saturday afternoon, falling to Oklahoma Christian 56-50 inside the Payne Athletic Center.

The Rams, with a dunk by Jhordan Ryan to open the second half, held an 11-point lead, but the Eagles ripped off a 19-7 run over the next ten minutes to take a 38-37 lead, which they held onto for the rest of the game.

The low-scoring game resulted from stout defenses by both teams – the Rams shot 34.4 percent from the field, while the Eagles shot 34 percent. The Rams made the game's only three-pointer on one of their 16 attempts, while the hosts failed to convert any of their eight attempts from deep.

Despite the loss, Jhordan Ryan turned in a herculean effort in his first career start for the Rams. The Montserratian played all 40 minutes and recorded the first double-double of his ASU career with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He was 7-for-8 from the field, blocked a pair of shots, and nabbed a steal.

Jordan Crawford joined Ryan in double figures with 12 points. The senior was responsible for the lone made three-pointer while assisting twice and recording a pair of steals.

Zyon Little fell shy of a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds in 34 minutes of action off the bench.

Kailon Nicholls scored six points and led the Rams with three assists.

The Rams are 11-7 on the season and 2-5 in LSC play. They are back home for a three-game home stand, which starts on Tuesday when they host UT Permian Basin.
