No. 13 Rambelles Open Season with Pair of Wins

Conroe, Texas – The Angelo State softball team opened its 2026 season with a pair of wins, defeating Southeastern Oklahoma 4-2 before ending the day with a 10-2 run-rule win over Simon Fraser.

Southeastern Oklahoma scored the first run of the season, a solo home run with two outs in the third inning.

The Rambelles responded with three runs in the following inning, all of which came with two outs.

Taylor Haywood tripled to center before freshman Zoey Sifuentes drove her in on her first collegiate hit, a single to right field.

Back-to-back RBI doubles by Bri Waters and Abby Brand put the Rambelles ahead 3-1.

Kylie Forney delivered a double in the top of the seventh inning to plate the fourth and final run. The Savage Storm tallied a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Rambelles held firm to claim the win.

Ashleigh Dendas picked up her first win in the circle, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out five batters in 5.2 innings of work. Addy Ewing recorded the final four outs to secure her first save at Angelo State.

The Rambelles' offense came to life in game two, scoring four runs in both the first and second innings.

The second inning saw Kylie Forney, Karli Manney, and Tatiana Trotter lead off with consecutive hits, which plated a pair of runs. A Sifuentes two-RBI single brought the Rambelles' lead to eight runs.

SFU scored once in the third and once in the fourth; Trotter would lead off the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run, the first of the season for ASU.

A two-out double by Larryn Feuge in the bottom of the sixth clinched the run-rule win for the Rambelles.

Maddison Ruiz started inside the circle, throwing the first three innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three. Bri Waters threw the final three innings in relief, picking up the win.

The Rambelles are back in action tomorrow against Mississippi College and Saint Martin's.
