Conroe, Texas – The Angelo State softball team repeated its day one success at the DII First Pitch Invitational, defeating Mississippi College 5-0 before closing the day with a 7-5 win over Saint Martin's.
The Rambelles kicked off the scoring in the second inning of game one against the Choctaws when a pitch hit
Zoey Sifuentes to put a runner on base for
Bri Waters, who homered over the left-field fence for the game's first two runs.
Abby Brand immediately followed with a home run to left of her own to stretch the lead to three runs.
Ashleigh Dendas drove in the final two runs of the game with an RBI single in the third and an RBI double in the sixth inning.
Freshman
Maddison Ruiz was dominant inside the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout. She conceded one hit, a first-inning infield single, and only allowed two walks while striking out six batters. Ruiz retired the final 15 batters she faced.
Game two saw Saint Martin's, who were coming off a win over top-ranked UT Tyler yesterday, score four runs in the top of the first against the Rambelles, who quickly responded with a five-spot in the bottom of the inning.

Tatiana Trotter, who doubled in Forney and put two runners in scoring position. Dendas, the next batter, reached on an error, which scored another run.
A Brand single and a Sifuentes double scored one and two runs, respectively, giving the Rambelles the 5-4 lead after one inning.
The Saints responded with a run in the following inning to tie the game; however, Manney led off the bottom of the second with a triple before she scored on a Trotter sacrifice fly, regifting the Rambelles the lead.
The game's final run came from a Waters RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
Dendas started the game in the circle, throwing three innings before making way for
Taylor Haywood, who threw four shutout innings, only allowing four hits while striking out three Saints to collect her first win for ASU.
The Rambelles are 4-0 on the season and close out their opening weekend tomorrow morning against Chadron State.
