Rams Fall in Overtime to No. 15 Hilltoppers

AUSTIN – The Angelo State men's basketball team pushed the nation's 15th-ranked team, St. Edward's, to the brink on Thursday evening, but the Hilltoppers evaded the Rams' upset bid in the Texas state capital with a 79-76 win.

The Rams shot 35.8 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three. The Rams controlled the boards, out-rebounding St. Edward's 42-33; they grabbed 18 offensive rebounds, which they turned into 26 second-chance points.

Quadir Pettaway led the Rams with 20 points on 7-for-19 shooting from the field and 4-for-11 from three-point range. The junior guard was responsible for four of the Rams' seven made threes.

Jordan Crawford stuffed the stat sheet with a season-best 17 points, shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line, while grabbing nine rebounds, assisting six times, and nabbing three steals.

Jhordan Ryan recorded another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds while blocking three shots. Ryan played 44 of a possible 45 minutes, the most of any player in the game.

The Rams are 15-11 on the season and 6-9 in LSC play; they close out their road trip on Saturday against St. Mary's in San Antonio.
