SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State men's basketball team fought hard against the nation's tenth-ranked team, Lubbock Christian, on Thursday evening inside the Junell Center/Stephens Arena, but it was the Chaps that ended the evening victorious with a 77-72 decision over the Rams.
The Rams shot 45.8 percent from the field and 35 percent from three, while the Chaps shot 52.8 percent overall and 40 percent from deep.
Jabbari Barry paced the Rams offense with a season-high 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field while making five of his seven attempts from three-point range. All five of his makes from deep came in the second half.
Jordan Crawford joined Barry in double figures with 14 points.
Jhordan Ryan scored nine points and led the Rams with eight rebounds. Ryan also blocked a pair of shots.
Zyon Little had eight points and six rebounds, leading the Rams with three steals.
Kailon Nicholls and
Quadir Pettaway scored seven points each; Pettaway led the team with three assists.
The Rams are 15-13 on the season, and 6-11 in LSC play; with today's results, they have been eliminated from postseason contention.
The Rams close out their home schedule this Saturday against Midwestern State.
