Kingsville, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team opened Lone Star Conference play with a 5-2 win over Texas A&M - Kingsville.
With the victory, the Rambelles move to 11-0 on the season.
Ann Anderson Gomez and Kaitlin Blount of Texas A&M - Kingsville defeated Sasa Felixova and Anastasiia Melnikova 6-3 to win the first match of doubles play. Margaux Rene and Benedetta Raggiotti would defeat Tocci Guadalupe and Maya Donker 6-3 to make it the doubles point come down to No. 3 doubles. The pairing of Andrea Landaeta and Emma Halvarsson would best Danaiya Amangazhiyeva and Jade Bestagno, 6-2 to give the Javelinas 1-0 heading into singles play.
Anna Waché would get the Belles on the board. She defeated Kaitlin Blount 6-1, 6-0 to make the match 1-1.
Emma Halvarsson defeated Anastasiia Melnikova 6-1, 6-4 to give the Javelinas a 2-1 advantage.
Margaux Rene would get back on track as she would go on to defeat Tocci Guadalupe 6-1, 6-4 to make it 2-2 in the match.
Vasilissa Kupriianova, the No. 26-ranked player in the nation, would make her debut for the Rambelles as she would go on to defeat Andrea Landaeta 6-1, 6-4 to give the Rambelles the 3-2 lead.
Danaiya Amangazhiyeva would go on to clinch the victory for the Rambelles as she defeated Maya Donker 7-5, 6-3 to give the Rambelles a 4-2 lead and the victory.
Benedetta Raggiotti would go on to defeat Ann Andersson Gomez 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to keep her 11-match unbeaten streak alive and give the Rambelles a 5-2 victory.
The Rambelles will return to action next week on Mar. 17th when they travel to Orlando, FL to take on Emporia State
