No. 10 Rambelles Sweep Past UT Dallas

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team collected a pair of wins over LSC newcomers UT Dallas on Friday evening at Mayer Softball Field, winning game one 7-4 before closing the day with an 8-3 win in game two.

The Comets struck first in game one with a four-spot in the third inning, scoring on an error, a double, and a single.

The Rambelles scored their first run of the game in the third inning, scoring on a wild pitch.

The Rambelles pushed across two more runs the following inning, courtesy of a Penelope Hurtado single.

The hosts tied the game up in the fifth inning with Tatiana Trotter drawing a bases-loaded walk.

Karli Manney drove in a run, and Zoey Sifuentes singled in two runs in the sixth inning to make it 7-4.

Ashleigh Dendas started the game in the circle and threw the first four innings before making way for Addy Ewing, who only allowed two hits and struck out four Comets in three innings of relief as she improved to 10-0 on the season.

Sifuentes kicked off game two with a two-run home run in the first inning.

Taylor Haywood tacked on a run with an RBI double in the second inning, and the Rambelles stretched the lead to four runs by capitalizing on a Comets error.

UTD would strike back with a bases-clearing double in the third inning to cut the Rambelles' lead to a single run.

Sifuentes gave the Rambelles an insurance run in the fourth inning with an RBI double.

Bri Waters and Kylie Forney drew bases-loaded walks in the fifth to make it 7-3.

Pinch hitter Greysen Collins finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Maddison Ruiz improves to 7-3 on the season, going the distance and allowing three hits, five walks, and three runs while recording a career-high nine strikeouts.

The Rambelles are now 27-6 on the season and 16-2 in conference play. They are back in action next Saturday in Kingsville to face Texas A&M-Kingsville.
