No. 7 Rambelles Sweep UT Tyler

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team continued its winning ways on Friday at Mayer Softball Field, sweeping the doubleheader against two-time defending national champions UT Tyler 6-1 and 5-3.

Zoey Sifuentes led the second inning of game one off with a triple before scoring the game's first run on an Ashleigh Dendas groundout.\

The Patriots pushed a run across in the fourth as the score stayed tied until the bottom of the sixth.

The bottom of the Rambelles' lineup loaded the bases courtesy of a hit by pitch and a pair of infield singles.

The first three runs of the inning scored on a wild pitch and a pair of bases-loaded walks before Dendas closed the scoring with a two-RBI single to make it 6-1.

Dendas started the game in the circle, only allowing one hit, two walks, and one run, ultimately earning a no-decision in 3.2 innings.

Addy Ewing improves to 6-0 on the season, allowing two hits, a walk, and no runs in 3.1 innings of work in relief.

The Patriots struck first in game two with a two-out RBI single in the opening frame.

Kamryn Loeffler drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the first inning, setting up Tatiana Trotter, who demolished a ball over the left field wall for a two-run home run.

The Patriots would score in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-all; the Rambelles would take the lead, scoring a run on an error in the fifth inning.

UTT tied the game the following inning on a Rambelles error.

The Rambelles struck for two runs in the bottom of the sixth, courtesy of a Kylie Forney triple and a Patriots error.

Maddison Ruiz started the game in the circle, only lasting a single batter before making way for Taylor Haywood, who recorded four innings in relief. Ewing threw the final three innings in relief, allowing three hits and one unearned run as she recorded her second win of the day.

The Rambelles are 21-4 on the season and 10-0 in LSC play; they are back in action on Sunday to host Texas Woman's.
