SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball lineup brought their bats to Mayer Softball Field this evening, scoring 21 runs in two games as they defeated Western New Mexico 9-2 in game one before cruising to a 12-1, five-inning run-rule win in game two.
The Rambelles kicked off the scoring in game one, with a second-inning single by
Taylor Haywood and a Mustang error setting up
Kamryn Loeffler, who singled in Haywood for the game's first run.
The Mustangs would respond with two runs in the following inning to take the lead, one they held onto until the fourth inning.
Loeffler led off the fourth inning with a single before stealing second and scoring on a
Karli Manney double. A
Kylie Forney sacrifice fly would score Manney and give the Rambelles a 3-2 advantage.
Haywood and a Mustang error put two runners in scoring position for Loeffler, who delivered her third hit of the night, a single to center field, which scored both runners.
Zoey Sifuentes hit a single later in the inning to score two more runs.
Tatiana Trotter, the next batter, would hit a two-run home run to wrap up the scoring.
Maddison Ruiz improves to 8-4 on the season, throwing six innings and allowing three hits, two runs (one earned) while recording seven strikeouts.
Ashleigh Dendas threw a perfect final inning in relief.
The Mustangs struck first in game two, scoring a run in the top of the first. The Rambelles would respond by scoring three runs in each inning, accounting for 12 unanswered runs as they claimed the run-rule win.
Manney and Forney kicked off the first inning by reaching base, and Sifuentes' single would score Manney. Dendas drew a bases-loaded walk to drive in the second run before a Haywood fielder's choice scored the third run of the inning.
Sifuentes hit an RBI double in the second inning before Trotter followed with her second two-run home run of the day to make it 6-1.

Larryn Feuge double and a Manney walk in the third inning preceded a Sifuentes three-run home run; the freshman drove in five runs in game two.
Back-to-back RBI doubles by Hurtado and Feuge in the fourth made it 11-1, and Trotter drew a bases-loaded walk to score the final run of the game.
Addy Ewing is 12-0 after throwing 3.2 innings in relief, allowing no hits and two walks while recording three strikeouts.
The Rambelles are 32-9 on the season and 21-5 in LSC play. They are back in action on Sunday, hosting Sul Ross State.
