SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Angelo State women's tennis team would fall to UT Tyler 5-2 to suffer their first loss of the season.
 
With the loss, the Belles fall to 19-1 overall and 6-1 in Lone Star Conference action.
 
The pairing of Maria Antonio Ortega and Paula Castellanos UTT would get things started for the Patriots as they would defeat Danaiya Amangazhiyeva and Anastasiia Melnikova 6-4. The Patriots would claim the doubles point as the pairing of Yona Bancarel and Natalia Gorzny would defeat Margaux Rene and Benedetta Raggiotti 6-3. Vasilissa Kupriianova and Sasa Felixova would fall short to Carla Rodier and Hailey Zhang, 6-4, to give all the momentum to UT Tyler as they head into singles play. 
 
Natalia Gorzny started things for the Patriots as she would defeat Vasilissa Kupriianova 7-5, 6-0 to give Kupriianova her first loss of the year and the Patriots a 2-0 lead. 
 
Yona Bancarel would defeat Margaux Rene 6-1, 6-4 to give the Patriots a 3-0 lead. 
 
Paula Castellanos would defeat Anna Waché 6-4, 6-0 to clinch the victory for UT Tyler and give the Patriots a 4-0 lead. 
 
Carla Rodier would come from behind in the second set as she defeated Sasa Felixova 6-1, 6-4 to make it a 5-0 lead for UT Tyler. 
 
Benedetta Raggiotti would defeat Hailey Zhang 6-2, 7-6 (7-1). She would claim the first point, making it 5-1 in favor of the Patriots.
 
Danaiya Amangazhiyeva would defeat Maria Antonio Ortega in a three-set thriller 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 to make the final score 5-2 in favor of UT Tyler. 
 
The Belles will be back in action tomorrow when they take on UT Dallas.
