SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State softball team continued its winning ways, extending its winning streak to 12 games following this afternoon's sweep of Midwestern State at Mayer Softball Field as the Rambelles took a 7-3 win in game one before ending the day with a 4-0 shutout win.
Game one was dormant until the fourth inning when the Rambelles' lineup erupted for six runs.
With two runners in scoring position and no outs,
Larryn Feuge doubled down the right field line to score the game's first run.
Kamryn Loeffler followed with an RBI single to double ASU's lead before
Kylie Forney delivered a two-RBI single that stretched the lead to 4-0.
Zoey Sifuentes would homer over the left field fence to plate herself and Forney, making it 6-0.
Midwestern State would score three runs in the sixth inning, but Sifuentes would respond with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to put the game at 7-3.
This is Sifuentes' first multi-homer game of her career.
Maddison Ruiz was dominant inside the circle, throwing five shutout innings and allowing only one hit and striking out seven as she improves to 13-4 on the season.
Game two saw the Rambelles draw a pair of hit-by-pitches in the first inning, putting two runners on with two outs to set up back-to-back RBI singles by
Ashleigh Dendas and
Abby Brand.
Dendas and Brand would drive in the game's final two runs in the third inning, doing so on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly, respectively.
Addy Ewing remains undefeated at 15-0 as she throws her first complete-game shutout at Angelo State. Ewing only allowed three hits while recording three strikeouts.
The Rambelles did not issue a walk across two games to Midwestern State.
The Rambelles now sit at 42-9 overall and 31-5 in LSC play. They are on the road next weekend to wrap up the regular season against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.
