No. 13 Rambelles Fall in Doubleheader to No. 6 Lady Buffs

Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State softball team fell to West Texas A&M on Saturday afternoon at Schaeffer Park by scores of 7-5 and 10-2.

The Rambelles opened the scoring in game one, with Karli Manney drawing a leadoff walk before scoring on a Tatiana Trotter double to left center.

WT scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to take an early lead.

Trotter would hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give ASU a 3-2 lead.

The fourth inning would see WT strike for five runs to make it 7-3; pinch hitter Greysen Collins delivered an RBI double in the fifth, and Ashleigh Dendas would hit a solo home run in the seventh to close the scoring as the game finished 7-5 in favor of WT.

The Rambelles got things going in game two, with Manney's leadoff single preceding a Trotter two-run home run for the early lead.

WT would score one run in each of the first two innings to tie the game.

The Lady Buffs broke the game open in the fourth with six runs before getting the run-rule win with two runs in the fifth inning.

The Rambelles enter the final day of the regular season with a 42-11 overall record and a 31-7 conference record, facing Eastern New Mexico tomorrow at 2 p.m.
