No. 13 Rambelles Close Regular Season with Split in Portales

Portales, N.M. – The Angelo State softball team closed their regular season this afternoon by splitting their doubleheader with Eastern New Mexico, claiming game one 13-5 in a five-inning run-rule before the Greyhounds won game two 5-1 at Greyhound Softball Field.

Ten of the Rambelles' 16 hits in game one went for extra bases, with seven being home runs. The heart of the Rambelles' lineup – Zoey Sifuentes, Tatiana Trotter, and Ashleigh Dendas – each hit two home runs as ASU's seven home runs are the second-most in a single game in program history.

Trotter hit a two-run home run in the first inning, with Dendas following with a solo shot to make it 3-0.

ENMU would respond in the bottom of the inning to tie the game.

The Rambelles would explode for ten runs in the third inning, sending 15 batters to the plate and recording nine hits.

Kylie Forney led the frame off with a walk before Sifuentes hit a two-run home run. Trotter and Dendas followed with solo home runs, going back-to-back-to-back to make it 7-3.

Greysen Collins hit an RBI double before scoring on a Kamryn Loeffler single.

Forney would hit a three-run home run, and Sifuentes would follow with a solo shot, the Rambelles' fifth home run of the inning, to bring the scoreline to 13-3.

The Greyhounds struck for two runs in the fifth, but couldn't produce a run to stave off the run rule.

Maddison Ruiz picked up the win in relief, allowing two hits and recording four strikeouts in 1.2 innings of work.

ENMU struck first in game two, scoring twice in the bottom of the first.

Trotter hit a solo home run to lead off the second – the 40th home run of her career. She is now only one of five Rambelles to hit 40 home runs in the Blue and Gold.

ENMU responded with a run in the fourth and twice in the sixth to hold a 5-1 lead.

The Rambelles finish the regular season with a 43-12 overall record and a 32-8 record in LSC play. They enter the LSC Tournament as the third seed, which will play Thursday-Saturday in Canyon.
