Long Ball Powers No. 18 Rambelles Past Lady Chaps

Canyon, Texas – The Angelo State softball team opened its weekend at the LSC Tournament in style, hitting three home runs to claim a 4-1 win over Lubbock Christian this afternoon at Schaeffer Park.

The Rambelles struck early, with a first-inning walk by LSC Newcomer of the Year Kylie Forney setting up LSC Freshman of the Year Zoey Sifuentes, who powered a two-run home run over the left field fence.

Tatiana Trotter would go back-to-back with her teammate, homering to centerfield to make it 3-0.

Sifuentes would hit her second home run of the day, a solo shot in the third inning, to give the Rambelles a four-run advantage.

LCU would strike for their lone run in the fourth inning on a leadoff home run.

Maddison Ruiz picked up her 15th win of the season, allowing three hits, two walks, and a run in four innings of work. Addy Ewing earned the save, her fourth of the season, as she only allowed one baserunner in three shutout relief innings.

The Rambelles are 44-12 on the season, and they advance to the LSC Tournament semifinals, where they will face the winner of St. Mary's and UT Tyler tomorrow at 2 p.m.
