SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State University Department of Athletics has announced its 2026 Hall of Honor Class, featuring Macy Baker, Charles Morton, Katrina Polnick, and the 2010 Women's Track and Field National Championship Team.
The Class of 2026 is the 15
th class to be inducted into the ASU Athletics Hall of Honor since its inception in 2004. The Hall of Honor now contains 60 student-athletes and coaches plus four teams.
Macy Baker, Softball (2006-09)

A shortstop for the Rambelles softball team from 2006-09, Baker is the only ASU player ever to be named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America team three times, earning second-team honors each year from 2007-09. She also helped lead the Rambelles to Lone Star Conference regular-season, LSC Tournament and NCAA Division II South Central Regional titles in 2007 and 2009.
A two-time LSC Player of the Year, Baker has her name written all over the ASU record books, ranking in the top 10 for career batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, games played, games started, at bats, runs scored, hits, doubles, home runs, total bases and walks. She holds the team career record with 220 RBI and is also the all-time LSC leader in that category.
Baker earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology and exercise science from Angelo State in 2009 and a Master of Science in coaching, sport, recreation and fitness administration from Angelo State in 2012. She then earned a master's degree in education administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2022 and has served as the assistant principal for the Azle Independent School District since 2024.

Katrina Polnick, Women's Basketball (1996-99) and Volleyball (1997-98)
A two-sport athlete at Angelo State, Polnick was a member of the Belles basketball team for four years while also featuring for the Belles volleyball team for two seasons.
On the basketball court, Polnick led the Belles in scoring and rebounding all four years of her career and is the only player in program history to do so. She ranks sixth all-time in scoring with 1,464 points, and in rebounding with 749 boards. She also ranks in the top 10 in program history in field goals made, field goals attempted, rebounding average, free throws made and free throws attempted.
Polnick was a three-time All-LSC selection and a two-time Academic All-LSC South honoree.
On the volleyball court, she was a force at the net, leading the Belles with 39 solo blocks in her two seasons and recording 73 block assists in 1998.
Polnick graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Angelo State in 1999 before receiving a Master of Education from Drury University in 2003. She has worked as a physical therapist at Kodiak Therapy since 2021.

Charles Morton, Men's Basketball (1963-67)
A four-year letterwinner for the Rams basketball team from 1963-67, Morton helped the Rams transition to competing as a four-year institution, beginning with the 1965-66 season, and was a two-time all-conference selection.
As a freshman under legendary head coach Phil George, Morton helped the Rams claim a conference championship in 1963-64. In his senior season, he led the Rams in rebounding, grabbing 6.4 boards per game, while also scoring 8.8 points per game on 49.4% shooting from the field.
Morton graduated from Angelo State with a Bachelor of Science in physical education in 1967. After graduating, he served as a bus driver for Angelo State Athletics and the Cheer Team. He was also the first building manager for the ASU Junell Center/Stephens Arena, a position he held from 2002-07.
Morton's wife, Shirley, and their daughter, Tracy Morton Hastings, are both also enshrined in the ASU Athletics Hall of Honor. The Mortons were honored as the ASU Athletics Family of the Year in 2007.
2010 Women's Track and Field National Championship Team
Angelo State University qualified nine women student-athletes to compete at the 2010 NCAA D-II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte, N.C. Those nine Rambelles brought home the program's first-ever national team championship.
The Rambelles captured 50 points in their final six events to run away with the title, beating the defending champion, Lincoln University, by 14 points, 87-73. The Rambelles had 20 scoring opportunities over the weekend, including Aisha "Ice" Adams in six events, Chrystal Ruiz in five events, Celethia Byrd and Andria Nussey in four events each, Kris Crockett in three events
, Sara Hooker and Makayla Myers in the relays, and Kim Williams and Jayda Spencer in the shot and discus, respectively.
By capitalizing on 16 of those 20 chances, the Belles earned 20 All-America honors and three individual national titles, including two event champions (Adams in the heptathlon and Byrd in the 400 meters) and one relay title in the 4x400 meters (Ruiz, Nussey, Crockett and Byrd).
Additionally for the Rambelles, Ruiz finished second in the heptathlon, Nussey finished second in the 800 meters, Adams finished second in the 400-meter hurdles and third in the long jump, and Byrd took third in the 200 meters, with her result clinching the overall national title, even before the last event of the meet. Angelo State put an exclamation point on the team championship by coming from behind to win the 4x400-meter relay while breaking the ASU school record in the process. The 2010 NCAA D-II Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship was the second NCAA team championship in Angelo State's history and the fourth overall national title.
