SAN ANGELO, Texas –
Madi Parrish recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 18 digs to lead the No. 9 Angelo State University volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over RV West Texas A&M on Thursday night in the Lone Star Conference Challenge at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
With the win, the Belles improved to 9-1 on the season and returned to the win column after suffering their first loss of the season in the championship match of the Colorado Premier Challenge.
Angelo State controlled the match offensively, outhitting the Lady Buffs .211 to .083. The Belles also held advantages in blocks (12-11) and assists (53-37).
Julia Hopkins followed Parrish with 12 kills, while
Alli Kirkpatrick and
Sydney Thornton each added nine. Kirkpatrick hit .320 on the night, while
Vivian Parker led the Belles with a .375 attack percentage, recording seven kills.
Madison Scrivner led the way in assists with 24, while
Olivia Pena added 22 as the Belles continued to find success offensively.
Thornton was a force at the net, accounting for seven of Angelo State's 12 total blocks, including four solo blocks. Kirkpatrick, Parker and
Hannah Barnhill each recorded multiple block assists.
Allie Duitsman led the Belles defensively with 22 digs, while Scrivner recorded her first double-double of the season with 24 assists and 12 digs.
The Belles will close out the Lone Star Conference Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 12, against Lubbock Christian. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
