San Angelo, Texas - The Rambelles claimed their first Lone Star Conference win under head coach
Mike Erwin after defeating Sul Ross State 3-1 Wednesday afternoon inside the LeGrand Soccer Complex.
With the win, the Rambelles improve to 2-6-3 overall and 1-4-2 in Lone Star Conference action.
In the 9th minute, a kick from
Carley Martinez on the left wing hit a Lobos defender, resulting in a goal for the Rambelles and giving them a 1-0 lead.
Great build-up play by
Graham Peeples up the right wing resulted in a great low cross that hit the right foot of
Sienna Schutte to give the Rambelles a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the 56th minute,
Ava Cantu was fouled inside the box, resulting in a penalty kick.
Ava Cantu would line up from the spot and send the ball past a diving goalkeeper, giving the Rambelles a 3-0 lead.
In the 74th minute, Averi Culver scored the lone goal for the Lobos off of a corner kick to break the clean sheet for the Rambelles.
Latae Rodriguez would record her first start for the Rambelles; she would allow one goal and record four saves.
The Belles would record 20 shots, with 11 of them being on target; Sul Ross State would record 17 shots, with five being on target.
The Belles will look to keep the momentum going as they travel to take on West Texas A&M on October 3rd in Canyon, Texas.
