“Richard is a versatile player that can defend multiple positions and score in a variety of ways. He started 12 games at North Texas on a team that won the Sun Belt Tournament and went to the NCAA Tournament. His size and strength at the guard spot will make him a tough matchup in the Lone Star Conference.”

Prior to Angelo State
During the 2009-10 season, played in 21 games with 12 starts for the North Texas Mean Green… Averaged 5.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game… Named to the 2009 Region VI All-Tournament Team at Garden City (Kan.) Community College… Represented the Broncbusters at the NJCAA All-Star Game and scored 10 points… Ranked second at Garden City with 13.6 points per game, helping the team to a 25-13 record, the Region VI championship and the program’s first trip to the NJCAA Tournament since 1956… Averaged 17.5 points and 5.8 rebounds at the Region VI Tournament… Finished the year with a 14-game double-digit scoring streak, which included five 20-point efforts … An expert at getting to the free throw line, Thomas ranked second at Garden City with 151 free throw attempts, connecting on 74.8 percent

Attended St. Johns High School in Astoria, N.Y… Averaged 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during senior campaign… Named to the All-City Second Team and All-Division First-Team… Played in the Coaches vs. Cancer All-Star Game and was named Most Valuable Player.
