Rex Scofield enters his sixth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Rams baseball team after a long and distinguished career as a coach and administrator in the San Angelo Independent School District (SAISD).

A native of Canadian, Scofield began his coaching career in Big Spring and moved to Lamar Consolidated before arriving at Central High School in San Angelo in 1979. He remained at Central HS until 1997, spending many of those years as the Bobcats’ head coach.

In June 1997, he was named the assistant athletic director of the SAISD. One year later, he was promoted to athletic director, a position he held until his retirement in June 2008.

Scofield and his wife, Debby, have been married 38 years and have three daughters, Tiffany, Darcy and Stormy. They are also the proud grandparents to two grandsons.
