Owen is a senior who pitches and plays in the outfield at Brownwood High. He was named the District 8-3A Utility Player of the Year last season as a junior after earning District 5-3A second-team honors as an outfielder as a sophomore. Owen, who is a 6-foot-3 RHP, went 8-4 last season on the mound, striking out 108 and only walking 38 in 73.1 innings of work. He maintained a 2.00 ERA throughout the season and helped lead his team a district championship and playoff appearance.

"He is a player who has a chance to increase his velocity and get even better," Brooks said. "He is a good-sized kid with a lot of upside."
