SAN ANGELO, Texas – Kaelen Valdez had a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs as the the No. 17 Angelo State Belle volleyball team won its seventh-straight match with a sweep over Texas A&M-Commerce, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-20).
The Belles improved to 25-2 overall on the season and 14-1 in the Lone Star Conference while the Lions dropped to 8-14, 3-11 LSC.

Valdez also added two assists to her stat line, while senior outside hitter
Celeste Bonter contributed to the Belles' attack with 11 kills. Junior setter
Alex Woolsey had 38 assists to pace the Angelo State offense to go along with 14 digs. Freshman
Shelby Wilt added 17 digs.
Angelo State also had key reserves –
Kaitlyn Standard,
Emily Booth and
Katie Coleman – provide a spark for the Belles off the bench. Standard, filling in for the injured
Debbie Ohl for the second-straight game, had eight kills and four block-assists. Booth and Coleman added five and four kills, respectively.
“Any experience that our players get is great,” head coach
Chuck Waddington said. “Those two kids (Booth and Coleman) in particular they work their tails off and if I have an opportunity to reward them with time on the court I am definitely going to do that. I appreciate everything that they bring to the program.”
The Belles defense also played well, holding the Lions to single-digit points in the second set and a .088 hitting percentage.
Rachel Robertson led Texas A&M-Commerce with nine kills while Dakota Crockett had 16 dig for the Lions.
The Belles finish their home stand this week with a 3-0 record and improved to 11-1 in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
Angelo State heads back on the road on Thursday, Oct. 27 to take on Eastern New Mexico before heading to Canyon for a showdown with No.15 West Texas A&M, Saturday, Oct. 29 as both teams are battling for the conference title.
