SAN ANGELO – Angelo State's Reggie Brice blocked St. Mary's Kevin Kotzur with 22 seconds left and continued his defensive presence moments later with a steal to lift the Rams basketball team to a 68-63 victory over St. Mary's in front of 606 fans at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
 
Brice's seven blocks in the game is tied for second-most in a single game in school history. His steal with six seconds left in the game led to a Keenen Coleman dunk to seal the victory. Brice finished the game with eight points, 11 rebounds and four steals to go along with his seven blocks.
 
Angelo State (5-2) struggled in the first half going down as much as 11 points on two separate occasions to St. Mary's (4-2).  Coleman scored 21 of his game-high 24 points in the first half but the Rams trailed 40-35 at the half.
 
Javae King-Gilchrist led the Rams in the second half, scoring 14 of his 20 points. Angelo State shot 48 percent in the second half compared to the Rattlers' 42 percent and outscored St. Mary's by 10 points in the second half.  
 
The Rams forced 16 second-half turnovers that turned into 15 points. The Rattlers did outrebound Angelo State by a margin of 35-28. The Rams and Rattlers have now split the season series as St. Mary's took the first game between the two opponents, 83-61, on Nov. 25.
 
Angelo State will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Lawton, Okla., to face Cameron at 8 p.m.
