STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Angelo State men's basketball team was ahead 15-14 before No. 6 Tarleton State went on a 12-2 run to open a lead as the Texans would hand the Rams a 76-55 loss at the Wisdom Gym on Wednesday night.
The Rams (6-10, 0-7 LSC) battled the Texans for the first 12 minutes of the first half holding a five point lead at two different points. The No. 6 Texans (14-1, 6-0 LSC) struggled from the field early on as the Rams held a 15-14 lead at the 8:20 mark of the first half.
Points came from everywhere in the beginning for Angelo State.

Keenen Coleman,
Javae King-Gilchrist and
Zach Jones each made contributions to help the Rams. King-Gilchrist also led the Rams with nine rebounds on the night.
Tarleton turned up the pressure and went on a 12-2 run to end the first half and take a commanding 39-22 lead. The Texans had all eight players who played in the first half score.
Angelo State came out and put pressure on Tarleton and forced eight turnovers in the second half. King-Gilchrist led the Rams with 15 points on the night and Coleman chipped in 13.
The Texans shot 52 percent in the second half to extend its lead to give and had four players score in double digits. Fabian Wilson led Tarleton with 15 points and Brian Word contributed 14.
The Rams return to action on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to face Texas A&M – Commerce at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.
