SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team welcomes Texas A&M-International and Cameron to the ASU Softball Complex for five games over the next three days. The No. 8 Belles will play a 2 p.m. nonconference doubleheader against the Dustdevils on Thursday before their conference opener versus Cameron on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Angelo State (12-3) earned a pair of victories over Texas A&M International earlier in the season in Laredo.
DeeshanaLynn Tafiti hit two of her LSC best seven home runs in the outing, while
Mary Kate McKay and
Claire Molina both picked up a win. The Rambelles improved to 13-0 all-time against TAMIU with the victories.
The Dustdevils are 7-17 under fourth-year head coach Scott Libby. Regina Morales leads TAMIU with a .400 batting average and has a team-high 15 RBIs.
“International is a tough team that will fight the entire game,” Angelo State head coach
Travis Scott said. “Our girls know that going in and will need to be ready to compete.”
After Thursday's twin bill, the Belles begin a three-game conference series against Cameron with a single game on Friday followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
The Rambelles hold a 13-1 all-time series edge against the Aggies. In the last outing, ASU earned a 4-0 victory in the opening round of the LSC Softball Championship a year ago.
Morgan Spearman hit a pair of two-run home runs in the game to secure the victory, while Molina earned the win.
Beth Watson is entering her fourth year at the helm and has guided CU to an 8-7 record this season. Sonia Foutch is Cameron's leading run producer with 16, while Leslie Martini is hitting .333 and has a team best four home runs.
