Rambelles Hit the Road to Face No. 19 Midwestern State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team will play No. 19 Midwestern State in a three-game series starting on Friday at Mustangs Park in Wichita Falls.

The Rambelles are 20-8 overall and 5-1 in the Lone Star Conference after splitting a doubleheader with St. Edward's on Tuesday.  

The road has been kind to the Rambelles this season with an 8-1 record away from the ASU Softball Complex. Kacie Easley and Lauren Smith have been on a tear both hitting over .500. The Rambelles have hit 14 of the teams 26 home runs on the road.  ASU has defeated No. 5 Southeastern Oklahoma State and No. 25 St. Mary's both on the road this season.

ASU is hitting .329 as a team in conference play with Easley leading the way hitting .583 in six games. The Rambelles have outscored opponents 33-15 so far and have held teams to a .262 batting average. Sandra Serna and Mary Kate McKay have combined to go 5-0 with 12 strikeouts.

Morgan Spearman is the team's leader in average on the season at .414. She is tied for the team lead in home runs with five and has batted in 25 runs. Easley is tops in slugging percentage at .736 and on-base percentage .532. Serna has a 12-2 overall record with 56 strikeouts. 

 The  No. 19 Mustangs of Midwestern State bring a 20-7 record to the game with a 4-2 record in conference. MSU is 10-3 at home and are the national leader in batting average (.400) and slugging percentage (.606).

The first game is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday's doubleheader will start at 12 p.m.
