LAWTON, Okla. – The Angelo State softball team used two grand slams from
Rachel Moore and
Darian Dunn and a strong pitching performance from
Mary Kate McKay to take two games from Cameron on Friday afternoon in Lawton.
“It is a great way to open conference play,” head coach
Travis Scott said after the game. “We were able to hit some balls very hard in game one. I don't ever remember ever coaching a game in which we hit two grand slams.”
The Rambelles (16-6, 2-0 LSC) hits grand slams in back-to-back innings in the first game and four strong innings from
Sandra Serna to win 12-2 (6-12, 0-2) to beat Cameron in game one.

Kacie Easley plated the first run of the game in the first on a single through the left side. Cameron would tie it up after a lead-off walk would score on a double. Easley finished the day going 3-of-4 with three RBI's and three walks over the two games.
The third inning would start with double by
Maddy McGarity and two singles by
Morgan Spearman and

The very next inning a similar situation would present itself to the Rambelles. Dunn stepped to the plate and took the ball to left center for her first career grand slam to bust the game wide open and make it 12-2.
Serna only gave up two runs on three hits. It is her ninth win of the season.
Kacie Brann came in to pitch the fifth inning and only allowed one hit.
The second game was a pitching duel between McKay and Cameron's Samantha Betts.
McKay threw a complete game allowing only two runs on seven hits for her sixth victory of the season. Betts was credited with the loss after giving up three runs and five hits.
“Mary Kate gave us a great outing in game two,” Scott said. “She gave us just what we needed.”
Morgan Spearman led the game off with a bang with a home run to right field.
Lanie Robinson and Smith would both score in the third to put Cameron down 3-0.
The Aggies would score two runs in the fifth but McKay would work out of it with a liner to the short stop to end the inning at 3-2. Cameron would put three runners on over the next two innings but would never put a runner in scoring position.
“Hopefully the weather will allow us to get game three in tomorrow,” Scott said.
