Rambelles Sweep Cameron with 6-3 Victory

BOX SCORE

LAWTON, Okla. –
The Angelo State softball team opened up Lone Star Conference play with a sweep of Cameron after winning 6-3 on Saturday in Lawton.

“It was a nice come from behind win today,” head coach Travis Scott said. “Mary Kate (McKay) and Sandra (Serna) both pitched well and Kacie (Easley) had a huge two run home run to tie it up in the fifth. Rachel (Moore) continued to prove big for us and Lanie (Robinson) had a great weekend at the plate. It was a great weekend overall and we are glad to be 3-0 in conference.”

The Rambelles (17-6, 3-0) went down 3-1 early after Cameron (6-13, 0-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Mary Kate McKay pitched three innings giving up three runs but Sandra Serna would pitch in relief after a weather delay.

Angelo State came out after the weather delay a different team. Kacie Easley would get her only hit of the game in the fifth inning and it turned into a big one. Easley took the pitch over the fence for a two-run home run to tie the game at three.

Easley drew three walks on the day as well. She now has five home runs on the season and 37 for her career.

Rachel Moore would step up to the plate next and duplicate Easley's feat. Moore would hit a home run to left center for a narrow 4-3 advantage.

Serna would take care of the rest. She would pitch four innings and only give up one hit and strike out four. It is Serna's 10th win of the season.

Lanie Robinson hit a double that would score two in the seventh to extend the score to 6-3. Robinson finished the day 3-of-4 with two RBI's.

ASU will return to the ASU Softball Complex to host LSC foe Eastern New Mexico on Friday.
