ASU Finishes 4th at LSC Golf Championships; Czarnecki Takes 5th

Ashley Bartholomew

FORT WORTH – The Angelo State golf team improved by 14 shots from its first round to second and finished the Lone Star Conference Golf Championships in fourth place on Tuesday, while senior Krista Czarnecki jumped two spots and claimed fifth place after shooting 78-77 – 155 at the par-72 The Golf Club at Champions Circle.

“I don't really think the course played easier today, but I know we played smarter,” ASU coach Kathleen Price said. “It was still windy, but we were focused and played much better golf. We played within ourselves and our team left the course with a smile.”

Czarnecki claimed her first top-10 finish of the season and her best LSC finish in her career with her 11-over-par tournament. The senior from El Paso completed her career at ASU playing 40 tournaments and with top-5 finishes.

“I had a lot of fun out there on the course,” said Czarnecki, who led the entire tournament in par-3 scoring at 1-under-par. “I didn't make as many putts as a I wanted to, but overall I was only one over on the back-9. That side really saved me in this tournament.”
