SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State softball team will conclude its series with Abilene Christian on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Poly Wells Field in Abilene.
The Rambelles (30-15, 15-8 LSC) took the first two games of the series last Saturday against ACU. ASU went 4-1 last week and are sitting at No. 4 in the conference standings.
Three seniors had memorable final home stands last week.
Brittney Davis,
Lauren Smith and
Kacie Easley both had big weeks. Smith hit .500 last week with four home runs and eight RBI's. She had one home run prior to last week.
Easley broke the ASU career home run with a solo shot in the sixth inning of game two with Tarleton State. The senior was tied with Macy Baker at 39 career home runs until the blast.
Davis finished the week with the highest batting average for the team at .667. She went had one double, one RBI and scored four runs in her six at-bats.
The Rambelles have played better on the road with an 11-4 record away from the ASU Softball Complex. The team is hitting .313 compared to .298 at home and the pitching staff's earned-run average is down nearly one run from 4.25 at home to 3.31 on the road.
The duo of
Mary Kate McKay and
Sandra Serna are a combined 10-4 on the road while Easley is the team's top hitter with a .463 average. ASU has a better slugging percentage (.513) and on-base percentage (.377) away from home.
This will be the final game between ASU and ACU as conference rivals. ASU holds a 33-11 all-time advantage and has won seven of the last 10 matchups.
The game will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
